Today the builder's truck pulled in next door and the inevitable has happened. With a change of ownership has come change of accommodation, and we will have to wait for the progression of building works to unfold what will become our view. We have been incredibly fortunate to have had this view for 35 years and would love to have it for more. The four properties on our northern border have potential for disastrous development. Time will tell.
You can't own a view. We lost most of our sea view many years ago. The fact that we have a double storey ourselves is simply for the garage space underneath, not to achieve a sea view, and another storey on the house next door will not give them a sea view either, although that may not be their purpose. Perhaps it's change we object to, accompanied by the invasion of privacy that comes with a construction site. Or maybe that we face north and our main aspect might soon be a brick wall. Whatever the outcome, we will adjust and adapt. And take more walks down to the bay where the view extends for 180 degrees and all the way to the horizon. But I will miss those palm trees. Forever grateful for the privilege of living in this small piece of paradise.
