With the changing seasons come the clouds that make our May sunsets so spectacular here in Cape Town. Over the years I have been privileged to have a front row seat for these, living as I do near the rocks of Kommetjie. Thousands of photos have been taken, not many of which have captured the exact colours of the sunset - perhaps it's not possible - but the effect has been close enough to embed them in the memory bank.
No matter how many sunsets I see, every one is a new experience of nature's magnificence, given to us for free and available for all who care to look up. It is not only clouds that fill the sky at sunset, but straggly Vs of sacred ibis, clumsy clumps of hadedahs, or an elegant grey heron gliding high above - always alone - that delight the eye. There is always soul food.
